Philosophy
The direction and development strategy for the University of Sahid Jakarta cannot be separated from the (corporate culture) Sahid Jaya Foundation for Welfare, Education and Social Affairs. Educational institutions under the auspices of the Sahid Jaya Foundation make Pancasila, which is the philosophy of state and culture, as their foundation. As an institution founded by Javanese people, the culture on which it is based is very characteristic of the educational institutions under its auspices.
In addition to Pancasila as the foundation of the state, several philosophies are also used as a foundation for culture. Nationality and religion are the basis of education. The philosophy of the work relationship that becomes the foundation is togetherness and kinship, Tri character Budi Luhur (taqwa to God Almighty, devoted to parents and love family and profession) as the philosophy of life, Tri Pakarti Utama (Ing Ngarso Sung Tulodho, Ing Madyo Mangun Karso, Tut Wuri Handayani) as a leadership philosophy, Science – Amal Soleh as an educational philosophy characterized by entrepreneurship and development, and Tri Darma as a devotion philosophy (rumang samelu handarbeni, obliged to go hangrungkebi, mulat sarira hangroso wani; meaning to feel belonging, obliged to take care of, dare to correct and introspective).

Tourism is all activities related to tourism and is multidimensional and multidisciplinary in nature which emerge as a manifestation of the needs of every person and country as well as interactions between the community, government and entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship is the whole activity in order to instill a person’s spirit, attitude, behavior and ability in handling a business or activity that leads to an effort to find, create, apply work methods and technology, and new products by increasing efficiency in order to provide better service and benefits. bigger (Presidential Instruction No. 4 of 1995 concerning the National Movement to Socialize and Cultivate Entrepreneurship).

The establishment of the Sahid Jakarta University cannot be separated from the long history of the work of the Founder and Advisor of the Sahid Jaya Education and Social Welfare Foundation, the late Prof.Dr.H. Sukamdani Sahid Gitosardjono as his contribution to the intellectual life of the nation in accordance with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution, because of the responsibility to prepare the future of the Indonesian nation which is knowledgeable, charitable, scientific and cultured is the right and obligation of every Indonesian citizen.
Sahid University Jakarta (USAHID) is an expansion of the Sahid Tourism and Hospitality Academy (APPS) which was established based on the decree of the Sahid Jaya Social, Education and Welfare Foundation No. 039 / Sc / Kpts / PI / 1982 and the Decree of the KOPERTIS Coordinator Region III Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 0275 / KOP.III.N.XII / 82. March 23, 1983 was designated as the beginning of the establishment of APPS. In 1986, APPS obtained the status of “Registered” based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 0216/01986.
Seeing the development of APPS, in early 1987 an idea emerged to split APPS into a higher education institution, namely becoming a university. Based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 0296a / 0/1989, APPS was changed to Sahid University (USAHID), which started its academic activities in the Odd Semester of the 1988/1989 Academic Year. Vocational Study Programs (D-II and D-III) at APPS are gathered in Non-Degree Faculties. March 14, 1988 was designated as the start of USAHID and was used as the birthday of USAHID Jakarta or known as the “Dies Natalis of Sahid University”.
On March 2, 1989 and March 15, 1989, USAHID was reviewed by the Accreditation Team and all Study Programs (PS) obtained “Registered” status, namely: Industrial Engineering and Management Study Program, Environmental Engineering Study Program, and Food Technology Study Program at the Engineering Faculty, Information Study Program , Public Relations and Journalism Study Programs at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, as well as the Management Study Program and the Economic Development Study Study Program (IESP) at the Faculty of Economics based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 0297/01998, dated 27 May 1989 in conjunction with the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 0586/0/1990 dated 4 September 1990.
With the issuance of Government Regulation no. 30/1990, which in one of its points explained implicitly that the Non-Degree Faculty was not recognized in the National Higher Education System, then starting January 1, 1991, the Non-Degree Faculty was changed back to the Sahid Hospitality and Tourism Academy.
In order to increase the status of the study program, based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 273 / DIKTI / Kep / 1992 dated 5 June 1992, the Study Program in Economics and Development Studies at the Faculty of Economics, as well as the Industrial Management Engineering Study Program, Environmental Engineering Study Program and Food Industry Technology Study Program at the Faculty of Engineering have obtained the status of “Recognized”. Likewise for the Public Relations Study Program and the Information Science Study Program at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, the status was “Recognized”.
Meanwhile, in order to respond to community needs, USAHID has opened new programs for both the SI (Accounting Study Program in the Faculty of Economics) and the D-III Program (Marketing and Trade Management Study Program at the Faculty of Economics) which have been confirmed by the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education. Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 255 / DIKTI / KEP / 1992 with each status “Registered”, as well as D III Program (Business Communication Study Program at the Faculty of Communication Sciences) based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Depdikbud No.406 / DIKTI / Kep / 1992 with the status of “Registered”.
Based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 305 / DIKTI / Kep / 1994 dated 7 December 1994 Sahid University has taken one more step forward by granting the status “DISAMAKAN” to:
- Department / Study Program of Management, S-1 Education Specialization in Tourism Studies and Hospitality Studies at the Faculty of Economics
- Education level of S-1 at the USAHID Faculty of Communication Science for Department / Study Program of Information Science
- Public Relations Department / Study Program
Accompanying this trail, based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 64 / DIKTI / Kep / 1995 dated 23 February 1995 has been given the status of “DISAMAKAN” for:
- Department / Study Program of Industrial Engineering and Management
- Environmental Engineering Department / Study Program
- Food Technology Department, Food Industry Technology Study Program for S-1 Education at the Faculty of Engineering
- Department / Study Program of Economics and Development Studies, bachelor’s level at the Faculty of Economics
With the formation of the National Accreditation Board (BAN), USAHID submitted an application for accreditation and the result was that 6 Study Programs obtained accreditation, according to SK BAN No: 001 / BAN-PT / AK-I / VIII / 1998, followed by SK BAN No 004 / BAN-PT / AK-IV / IV / 2000 for Accounting Study Program and SK BAN No. 012 / BAN-PT / AK-IV / VI / 2000 for the Journalistic Science Study Program, as well as improved accreditation ratings for the Food Technology Study Program with SK BAN No 021 / BAN-PT / AK-IV / VIII / 2000, SK BAN No 025 / BAN-PT / Ak-I / S2 / IX / 2000 for the Management Study Program (S2), and SK BAN No 002 / BAN-PT / Ak-I / Dpl / IV / 2002 for the Marketing Management Study Program (D3) and Business Communication Study Program (D3). The re-accreditation in 2002 and 2003 was carried out on 6 Study Programs, namely PS. Management (S1) and PS. Development Economics (S1) at the Faculty of Economics, PS. Public Relations (S1) and PS. Information Science (S1) at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, as well as PS. Industrial Engineering (S1) and PS. Environmental Engineering (S1) at the Faculty of Engineering, each of which produces the same accreditation ratings as the previous one based on SK BAN No 019 / BAN-PT / Ak-VII / S1 / VIII / 2003, No 033 / BAN-PT / Ak-VII / S1 / IX / 2003 and No. 035 / BAN-PT / Ak-VII / S1 / X / 2003.
In 1998 USAHID opened a Postgraduate Program with a Master of Management Study Program. In the 2000/2001 academic year the Postgraduate Program opened the Master of Communication Studies Program based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No: 179 / DIKTI / Kep / 2000 with 2 Concentration Areas, namely: (1) Communication Management (2) Public Relations.
In accordance with the Sahid Jaya Foundation Decree No 046 / YSJ / KPTS / KV / V / 2001 dated 15 May 2001, in the 2001/2002 academic year, Sahid University opened the Faculty of Agriculture with the Food Technology Study Program. The Faculty of Agriculture is a division of the Faculty of Engineering which in 2002/2003 became the Faculty of Agricultural Industrial Technology. At the beginning of the 2002/2003 academic year, the Law Study Program was established with 2 (two) specializations, namely Business Law and Legal Practitioners which were operated based on an Operating Permit from the Director General. Higher Education No. 1060 / D / T / 2002 under the Faculty of Law in accordance with the Decree of the Chancellor of Sahid University Jakarta No. 53 / SK / USAHID / V / 2002.
There was a study program arrangement from the Directorate General of Higher Education (Dikti) of the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia, so in 2004, 3 Study Programs at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, namely the Public Relations Study Program with an A accreditation value, a Information Science Study with a B Accreditation value and a Journalism Study Program with a B Accreditation value joined into one study program, namely the Communication Science Study Program with a specialization in Public Relations, Marketing Communication and Journalism.
In 2007 the Postgraduate School of Sahid University Jakarta developed a Doctoral Program in Communication Science based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number 2563 / D / T / 2007, until now the Postgraduate School Communication Science Doctoral program is the only doctoral program in the field of communication science in private universities with 4 specializations / concentrations.
The rearrangement of the Study Program was again carried out by DIKTI through Decree No. 163 / DIKTI / KEP / 2007 where the Communication Study Program (D3) became the Public Relations Study Program, with 4 specializations, namely Broadcasting, Advertising, Public Relations and Business Communication. Thus, there are 11 study programs in the Sahid University of Jakarta, consisting of: 7 undergraduate study programs (S1), 1 Diploma Three (D3) study program, 2 Masters study programs (S2) and 1 study program. for Doctoral education (S3) see Table 1.
In 2009 – 2011, strengthening governance and development of educational facilities began. In addition to routine education and teaching activities, Usahid received a grant program from the Director General of Higher Education (DIKTI) for the Institutional Competition Grant program, these activities were carried out in various activities, both to strengthen educational management capacity, as well as to increase graduate competencies according to scientific fields and characterized by entrepreneurship.
